How buying on interest-free credit works here
Most people do not replace flooring or furniture because a room needs it. They replace it when they can face the bill. Interest-free credit exists to separate those two things, so the decision is about the right carpet, the right mattress or the right sofa rather than about which month the money is available.
Interest-free credit is available on selected furniture and flooring purchases, and full home furnishing projects can be spread over 12 months interest-free. Terms and conditions apply and credit is subject to status, we will tell you plainly in the showroom which products the offer applies to on the day and what the terms are before you commit to anything.
It suits customers replacing a worn floor or an unsupportive bed sooner rather than later; people furnishing a whole property at once, where the total is naturally larger; landlords and holiday-let owners spreading a fit-out across a season; and anyone who would rather buy the correct specification once than buy a cheaper one twice.
Because we are a local, family-run firm you are arranging this face to face with the people who run the business, in the same visit as choosing the product. There is no separate call centre, no pressure and no obligation to take credit at all, plenty of customers simply pay outright.
The cost of buying down to a budget
When the whole cost has to land in one month, the specification gets cut to fit. The carpet goes on a thinner underlay, the mattress drops a tier, the sofa drops to a lighter frame, and the saving disappears the first time any of those decisions is tested.
Cheap underlay under a good carpet is the classic example. It makes the floor feel flat, wears the pile out in the traffic lanes years early, and the eventual replacement costs far more than the difference would have.
Waiting has its own price. A bed that no longer supports you costs sleep every night it stays in the room; a floor worn through to the backing cannot be repaired; a room left unfinished stays unfinished. Meanwhile a property waiting to be let earns nothing at all.
The mistakes we see most often
- Buying the cheapest option now and replacing it within a few years, at a higher total cost.
- Cutting the underlay, the frame quality or the mattress specification to make a single month's payment work.
- Assuming credit is only for large purchases and never asking what it applies to.
- Taking finance without reading the terms, always check the term, the payments and what happens at the end of it.
- Delaying a whole-property fit-out and losing a season of lettings to save on a monthly figure.
Our process
How a interest-free credit job runs, step by step
- Step 1
Choose the right product first
We specify what the room and the household actually need before any conversation about payment, so the finance fits the product rather than the product being cut to fit the budget.
- Step 2
Written quotation
You get one written price covering the goods, the underlay or accessories, and the fitting or installation, so you know the true total before considering how to pay for it.
- Step 3
Confirm what credit applies to
We confirm in the showroom whether interest-free credit is available on the items you have chosen, over what term, and exactly what the terms and conditions are.
- Step 4
Application, subject to status
The application is completed in store. Credit is subject to status, so approval is not automatic, and we will say so honestly rather than implying otherwise.
- Step 5
Delivery, fitting and payments
Once approved, the order proceeds exactly as any other, measured, delivered and professionally installed, with payments running over the agreed interest-free term.
What you get
The difference it makes day to day
Buy the right specification, not the affordable one
The proper underlay, the correct mattress tier and the frame that lasts, chosen on merit rather than on what one month allows.
12 months interest-free on full projects
Whole-property furnishing spread over twelve months interest-free, which is what makes furnishing a house or a let in one go realistic. T&Cs apply, subject to status.
Arranged face to face
Set up in the showroom with the family that runs the business, in the same visit as choosing the product. No call centre.
Nothing hidden in the price
You see the full written total, goods, underlay or accessories, delivery and fitting, before any payment arrangement is discussed.
No obligation either way
Credit is an option, not the default. Plenty of customers pay outright, and the price and the service are the same.
What to check before taking finance on furnishings
Interest-free credit is straightforward, but it is still a credit agreement. These are the things worth understanding before you sign one.
What 'interest-free' and 'subject to status' actually mean
Interest-free means the amount repaid over the agreed term is the cash price of the goods, with no interest added over that term. Terms and conditions apply and the specific offer available depends on the products and the day, so always confirm it in store.
Subject to status means the credit provider assesses the application; approval is not guaranteed for everyone. It is worth knowing that up front rather than planning a delivery date around an assumption.
What the offer applies to
Interest-free credit is available on selected furniture and flooring purchases, including carpets, vinyl and LVT, beds and mattresses, sofas and mobility seating from our Keith and Buckie showrooms.
Full home furnishing projects, where an entire property is furnished from flooring through to accessories, carry the 12 months' interest-free option. Ask about the specific items you are considering and we will confirm exactly what is covered.
Working out what you are really comparing
Compare total delivered-and-fitted prices, not headline product prices. A flooring quote that excludes underlay, gripper, uplift, disposal, doorbars and fitting is not comparable with one that includes them, whatever the monthly figure looks like.
Our quotations are written and complete, so the figure the credit is arranged against is the figure you actually pay.
Spreading a whole-property fit-out
Furnishing a full property is where spreading the cost changes what is possible: rather than finishing two rooms now and four next year, with the later rooms never quite matching, the whole property is specified and delivered together and paid for across the term.
For a holiday let or B&B that also means the property can start earning immediately rather than after a phased fit-out.
Buying once instead of twice
Twenty-five years in this trade teaches you that the expensive purchase is usually the second one. A heavy-domestic carpet on a good underlay, or a mattress with the right support, usually outlasts the cheaper alternative and costs less across the same period.
Interest-free credit exists to make that the achievable choice rather than the aspirational one.
