Local coverage

Minutes from Keith, and we know the town

Dufftown is one of the closest towns to our Keith showroom, so it is quick to reach for measuring, delivery and fitting.

Showrooms at 72–76 Mid Street, Keith, AB55 5AF and 5 East Church Street, Buckie, AB56 1EX.

Dufftown is one of our nearest towns, a short drive south from the Keith showroom on Mid Street. Measuring appointments, sample drop-offs and fitting dates are all straightforward here, and we are back and forth regularly.

We cover the town and the surrounding Speyside settlements, Craigellachie, Aberlour, Rothes, Glenlivet and the farms and cottages between. This is distillery country, with a lot of stone-built worker housing, a lot of visitor accommodation, and a lot of houses standing high and exposed.

Dufftown customers come to the Keith showroom for flooring, beds and mobility chairs and to Buckie for sofas. Both are easily done in a morning, and we will hold an order so a multi-room job lands as one delivery.

The kinds of property we work in around Dufftown

Stone terraces and distillery housing

Solid, cold and compact. Warmth underfoot is the priority and underlay does most of the work.

Village houses around the Clock Tower

Traditional layouts, narrow halls and stairs measured individually rather than to a template.

Holiday lets and visitor accommodation

Whisky tourism means a lot of let property that must clean well, look right in photographs and survive turnover.

Rural cottages and farmhouses

Uneven floors, long approaches and serious winter weather, specified accordingly.

What Dufftown customers ask for most

Insulating underlay and warm carpet

The single most requested improvement in Dufftown houses, and the most effective.

Hard-wearing hall and kitchen flooring

Vinyl and LVT that copes with wet, grit and salted roads in winter.

Beds and mattresses

Tried in the Keith showroom before you buy, delivered and built in the room.

Let-property furnishing

Whole visitor properties furnished, delivered and installed between bookings.

Why Dufftown chooses us

A family business with two showrooms, not a call centre with a catalogue

Practically local

A short drive from the Keith showroom, so nothing about a Dufftown job is awkward for us.

25 years of cold-house experience

We know exactly where the heat goes in a Speyside stone house and what to do about it.

Family-run and accountable

The people who sell it are the people who answer for it.

Fitted and finished

Old flooring lifted and removed, new flooring fitted, furniture placed, packaging away.

Local conditions

Dufftown's altitude, stone and weather

Dufftown sits high in Speyside, and it gets genuinely cold, colder and for longer than the coast. Almost every flooring problem we are called to here traces back to that, or to the age of the stone the town is built from.

Serious winter cold

Frost, snow and long cold spells are routine here in a way they are not in Buckie. Stone floors and uninsulated timber floors pull warmth out of a room continuously.

This is where underlay stops being a detail. A properly insulating underlay under a decent carpet changes how a Dufftown room feels within a day, cuts heat loss and pays for itself over a few winters. We say the same thing to every customer here and we mean it every time.

Salted roads and wet entrances

Grit and salt from treated roads get carried indoors all winter, and salt is brutal on carpet fibre and colour.

Hard flooring at entrances with a serious matting area contains it. It is a small change that adds years to the carpet beyond the hall.

Old stone construction and moisture

Solid stone walls and older solid floors manage moisture differently from modern construction, and covering them with the wrong material traps it.

We check the sub-floor before recommending anything and choose coverings that let the building behave as it was built to. A dry, correct specification lasts; a sealed, wrong one fails.

Visitor property turnover

Whisky tourism keeps a lot of Dufftown accommodation busy, and busy property wears faster and gets cleaned harder than a family home.

For lets we specify durability and cleanability over softness, and we install to a date that fits the booking calendar rather than ours where we possibly can.

Our process

How a job in Dufftown runs, step by step

  1. Step 1

Visit a showroom or call us

See and feel the flooring, lie on the mattress, sit in the chair or the sofa. If you would rather not travel, ring 07377 368826 and we will talk it through and bring samples.

  2. Step 2

    We measure and specify

We measure the rooms properly, check sub-floors, heating and access, and recommend the products that suit the property rather than the ones with the best margin.

  3. Step 3

A written quote for the finished job

One written price covering supply, underlay and fitting, with anything else set out in the quote before you commit.

  4. Step 4

    Delivered and professionally installed

Flooring is fitted, beds are built, furniture is placed and curtains are hung, and the packaging leaves with us.

Warm, hard-wearing and honest specification

The advice we give in Dufftown is consistent: spend on the underlay first, choose a carpet rated for the traffic second, and put hard flooring where water and grit arrive. Follow that order and the house is warmer, the carpet lasts longer and the total bill is lower than the alternative.

Because we carry flooring, beds and mobility chairs at Keith and sofas at Buckie, a Dufftown household refurnishing more than one room deals with one company throughout, one measure, one written quote, one delivery, one crew and one phone number.

We also take on whole properties: new builds, holiday lets, Airbnbs, B&Bs and family homes furnished from empty with furniture, beds, flooring, curtains and accessories, all delivered and professionally installed. The seven-bedroom Drumnadrochit house we furnished from empty is the fullest example of that service.

Interest-free credit is available on selected furniture and flooring, with 12 months' interest-free credit on full home furnishing projects, terms and conditions apply and credit is subject to status.
